Auto Version Numbering
Auto Version Numbering

Automatically assign / increment procedure versions that comply with the versioning schema.

Updated over 6 months ago

Setting the schema for auto version numbering is a global setting.

Navigate to Settings > Release to set the Auto Version numbering.

Toggle on "Auto Version Numbering" to enable this for your workspace.

You must be an Admin to change this setting.

The auto version numbering will not change any existing version numbers. Only new drafts where the schema matches the settings will be auto incremented.

Tip: Using Number-based versioning will always be the best way to keep your procedure versions organized.

Click the edit button to change the Major and Minor settings to either Letter or Number. The delimiter can be set to either period (.) or dash (-). You will see a preview of the schema on the left. Click save to save the changes.

When creating a brand new procedure, the version number will automatically be populate with the Major designation. This can be manually changed, if desired.

Future drafts of this procedure will automatically increment the Major designation unless a delimiter and Minor designation are added manually.

For example:

Version 1 will become Version 2

If the Version is manually set to include the delimiter and the Minor designation so that it matches the Number.Letter schema in settings, Version 1.A will automatically increment to 1.B when the next draft is created.

If the Version does not match the schema in settings then the Version will NOT update automatically and will need to be manually updated in order to enter Review.
